High Summer has arrived in Vienna. The temperatures have been hitting 30 plus Celsius on an almost daily basis and I am spending so much time at the swimming pool with my kids, I think that they may soon grow gills.
I come from a chillier part of the world, where High Summer was a less frequent and much less durable pheonomenon. I am therefore ridiculously enthusiastic about this comprehensive Summer, especially now that the school holidays have begun.
The only drawback is the impact on my garden. Full, strong sun tests the mettle of even the most robust plants. I have tried to plant according to the sun preferences of the inhabitants, but it doesn’t always work. The glare of a Mid-Summer sun also makes garden photography tricky. So my snapping has been mostly early or late in the day.
For those plants that thrive in this kind of weather, a close up shows them off in all their glory. Here’s a few.
I am off for a refreshing drink, and a little more sun.
